Position: J2EE Programmer
Location: Toronto
Contract: 8 Months
Rate: 50hr

As the successful applicant, you will work on an exciting project with a vision that includes community agencies integrating care to end chronic homelessness (see background at the bottom of this posting).
You will be joining a dynamic team which includes front line staff (user co-developers) working together with an small and efficient IT development team.
You will be developing open source software that will be used locally and across the country by agencies who work with this very vulnerable population.
Your new role as J2EE programmer will include participating in design sessions, code development and documentation.
You will analyze, design, code, test and implement a Web-based solution using Java and MySQL.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, and/or equivalent experience.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) is a must.
- 5+ years of hands on JAVA development.
- 5+ years developing JAVA based web applications.
- 5+ years using UNIX based systems.
- 4+ years MySQL (administering + development)
- 3+ years CVS (must understand branching and tagging)
- 2+ years struts.
- 2+ years hibernate.
- 2+ years web services (SOAP, XML-RPC)
- 2+ years using Eclipse Platform
- 1+ years spring framework.

DESIRED SKILLS:
- Team based Open source development. Please cite project(s) in application, and specific contributions.
- Apache ant
- Unit testing frameworks such as JUnit, DbUnit
- Health Care specific expertise in developing Electronic Medical Records (EMR). - HL7 Development Experience
- hands on development in AJAX.
- Familiar with major design patterns

This position would include the following responsibilities:

1) Assisting in the design and development of a data integration module (SOAP,JMS)
2) Standard J2EE Web Application Development
3) Requirements gathering
4) Supporting multiple production environments.
5) Participating in deployments.
